No stranger to being up and about early on a Sunday morning, Spirit FM's Neale Bateman took part in this year's BHF London to Brighton bike ride.
The 54 mile ride took place on Sunday 20th June. Neale, along with friends and co-riders Laura and Paul, completed the distance in 5 hours 19 minutes.

Neale plays some great music to start your Sunday morning, including a couple of Sunday smoothies, and puts your local knowledge to the test with Where In West Sussex?
Born in Chichester, Neale grew up in Bognor Regis and despite a 25 year career in broadcasting mostly based in London, he still lives in Middleton On Sea with his wife (a nurse at St. Richard's Hospital) and two beautiful - and expensive - teenage daughters!
Neale started his radio life as an Studio Engineer, and says that if he wasn't on the radio as a presenter, he'd probably be taking it apart to find out how it works! He was part of the original line-up on Spirit FM when the station launched in April 1996, having been an active volunteer during a number of temporary broadcasts in Bognor Regis and Chichester, campaigning for a truly local radio station in West Sussex.
Highlights in Neale's career include meeting the hostage Terry Waite just days after his release from captivity (a very humbling experience) and being presented with an award by Sir David Attenborough at BAFTA. Oh, and dropping a very noisy screwdriver on the studio floor while a lady announcer was struggling to read the late night Shipping Forecast (she paused briefly, apologised for having an engineer under the table, and then continued - what a professional!)
Being a regular commuter to London, Neale loves the train journey along the Arun Valley line, watching as the seasons change the beautiful countryside in West Sussex. Weekends will usually find him out and about, cycling around the country lanes and villages, gathering clues for Where In West Sussex - one of the longest running features on Spirit FM. Sunday morning, playing great songs on the radio, is Neale's favourite part of the week ... even if it does mean getting up stupidly early!
Neale also presents Feel Good Friday 7-10pm ... 3 hours of feel good tunes to get you into the mood for the weekend!
