At Hollymead House, great care is taken to encourage residents to live as independently as they wish. Hollymead House provides regular country outings, as well as weekly in house entertainment and activities. We also provide a warm and caring environment where owners and staff do their best to please, and ensure that you enjoy your time spent with us, whether it be short term or permanent residence. Family and friends are always welcome and encouraged to visit at any time they wish. An excellent level of comfort is provided.

Avoiding loneliness at Christmas.  

Christmas is a time when families and friends all come together, sadly however this is not always the case. Every year hundreds of elderly people spend Christmas day alone. In 2008 Hollymead House decided to make a change to 2 local residents Christmas. Michael Martin - Hollymead House's Owner enquired at his local GP's surgery. In turn they found 2 local residents, who without this offer would have spent Christmas alone.  

Michael arranged for the 2 guests to enjoy a wonderful Christmas surrounded by friends, and collected them from their homes too! All of this was done free of charge.   Michael says: "Christmas is not a time to be alone, as a residential home we are limited to the number of people we can have - However if every residential home or restaurant with spaces spare on Christmas day could offer one to someone who would otherwise be alone on Christmas day - This would make a considerable difference to the person concerned."
