MINESTRONE 2010
Minestrone 2010 is the very first exhibition of the artist collective MINESTRONE, founded by artist Becky Rose of Chichester.
The group began at the end of last year as the result of a frustrating financial climate. Young artists have always had it tough, with art competitions charging the earth just to enter with no guarantee of getting in the final show; the hiring of venues and art galleries charging more than is affordable on a basic wage for a period of sometimes no more than a week.
MINESTRONE was established to change all this.
MINESTRONE 2010 is an aid to support young artists in their ambitions to get their work out on the open market. The entire show is run by young people, from the gallery owners to the designers for the posters and flyers, and not just the artists themselves (who include Alexandra Overthrow, Amy Albright, Becky Rose, Benjamin Pickersgill, Charlotte Brooks, Hannah Morrison, Harry Rose, Jessica Madeley and Mike Stout). The 9 artists are aged between 18 and 27, all at different stages of their lives with work or college, all giving different perspectives on being part of an exhibition.
The venue for MINESTRONE 2010 will be hosted in two separate venues a stones throw away from each other. The Joy Gallery, which has been newly re-located to Guildhall Street and using MINESTRONE 2010 as their launch exhibition, and the Guildhall in Priory Park, both venues in the heart of Chichester.
MINESTRONE 2010 is kindly being sponsored by the Youth Opportunities Fund.

TRANSITION CHICHESTER, AN EVENING WITH A DIFFERENCE
OYEZ, OYEZ ….will ring out over the Chichester town centre when Alistair Chisholm, seven times National Champion Town Crier announces 'An Evening with the BBC (Best Before Campaign)'
The evening promises an innovative entertainment spoofing well known BBC programmes. The sketches penned and familiar songs given a new slant by the local cast. Organised and invented by members of Transition Chichester, the theme of the night is our environmental challenges and what to do about them.
Transition is a vibrant, grassroots, national charity network that encourages and inspires communities to work together for a more sustainable future.
Alistair, MC for the evening, says "Having worked as Town Crier in Chichester and taken part in the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Market Cross, I know there is plenty in Chichester to shout about! I'm involved in Transition Town Dorchester, so I'm delighted to 'cry up' and chair a ' sister ' chester's evening."
Our own Transition Chichester group feels that environmental issues are so often gloomy. "We want to bring people together with humour. " says Kate Sabin, who clothed in black , presents the Weakest Link (spoof). " We can only make the changes to our lifestyle that the earth needs, when we change our minds ..and our hearts …connecting with others and humour are key"
Come along and enoy an evening with a difference!
The Town Crier, Alistair Chisholm, will be "crying up" the event at intervals in the City Centre from 11am till two hours before the performance
